FUNDRAISING ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT for CANCER SERVICES FOR ISLE OF WIGHT RESIDENTS
Fundraising is still on going to support the many patients, their families and carers living on the Island suffering with cancer. In 2006 the Wessex Cancer Trust spent £19,000 on family grants to help alleviate patients financial hardship.
The Trust funds an Information Officer, Kathy Snook based on the Island. She offers an invaluable support to patients including liaising with volunteer drivers to assist with travel for patients.
The Isle of Wight volunteer group is also kept busy throughout the year raising funds for on-going projects on the Isle of Wight and will always welcome new members. Wessex Cancer Trust supports many aspects of cancer care for adults and children This includes research, education, the production of cancer prevention/patient information leaflets, the improvement of patient facilities, the purchase of equipment and financial help for cancer patients and their families. The Trust also provides a free counselling and complementary service to cancer patients and their carers and families.

We fund family grants to help alleviate patient's financial hardship. The grants help with a range of things, which could include new bedding, specialised equipment, handrails, new washing machine etc. In 2006 the Wessex Cancer Trust spent £19,000 and to date this year 46 Patient Family Grants have been given totalling £11,657.21

Daisy Link Mini Bus providing transport for patients from the ferry terminals in Southampton to local hospitals.
The new Chemotherapy Unit at St Mary's Hospital.
